Results

The results from the diabetes surveillance indicators can be found below in interactive charts. These results expand on and supplement the results published in ‘Diabetes in Germany – National Diabetes Surveillance Report 2019’. In addition, the section also includes a description of the methodological approach and the data used to calculate the results. The indicators have been assigned to four fields of action and a distinction was made between children and adolescents as well as adults

Children and adolescents
The results on children and adolescents include information on disease incidence and prevalence of type 1 and type 2 diabetes, care for type 1 diabetes, and risk factors for type 2 diabetes, such as obesity, physical inactivity, and smoking.

Adults
For adults, the focus is on type 2 diabetes, and results include risk factors of type 2 diabetes, early detection and treatment of diabetes, major complications and comorbidities, and information on overall societal impact.
