Cooperation projects

Within the National Diabetes Surveillance framework, cooperation projects are methodical projects that focus on secondary and registry data that test the suitability of existing data sources for diabetes surveillance in order to close gaps in the data.

Since 2016, the Federal Ministry of Health has funded the Robert Koch Institute’s external cooperation projects as part of the project to ‘Promote and further develop the use of external sources of data to secure (establish and expand) national level diabetes surveillance’. External cooperation projects last for one year.

Methodological projects are selected using defined criteria that are intended to ensure that the analyses and results can be applied in the diabetes surveillance framework. A range of projects that have been selected are described here.
